"How Do I Activate My Card?"

A common question we get is how to activate a newly-received card. Well, depending on your card type, you might not have to activate it at all. Find your card type below:

Pre-Activated Cards

Tapt Custom and Tapt Black Cards typically arrive ready to use. Simply tap your card to confirm that it’s linked to your profile with no activation required.

If this is your card, just tap it to make sure all your details are on the profile. If not, please update your details either via the App or with an Administrator through the Dashboard.

Once done, you're all set to start sharing your details.

Unactivated Cards

On the other hand, the following products need activation:

  • Tapt Lite

  • Tapt Wallet

  • Tapt Stands

If your order is one of the above, you will need to activate it upon receipt to set up your profile. Please find our activation guide here

Quick Test: Checking If Your Card is Pre-Activated

If you're still unsure, here’s how you can check if your card is ready to go:

  1. Tap your card on your phone.

  2. If your profile opens, you’re all set—no further steps needed!

  3. If you see an activation code, follow the aforementioned activation guide.

"I Have a Card but I Can't Log In to the Dashboard"

Another common question we receive is why can't one access the Dashboard despite having a profile.

It's important to note that Card/Profile Management happens at two levels:

  1. On an individual level, using the Tapt App by the Cardholder (with their login email being the same as the contact email on the profile).

  2. On an organisational level by the Account Administrator using the Tapt Dashboard. Typically whoever placed the initial order will be sent the admin invite, but more can be added later.

Some of you may be cardholders, while others may be administrators. There may even be some of you who are both. Here's a quick guide on how to identify which one you are:

Organisation-Linked Cards

When a team purchases cards for its members, all the associated profiles are typically hosted in one Dashboard or Organisation. On these Dashboards, there are two types of users as mentioned above:

Cardholders: If your organisation provided your card or digital profile, you most likely will not have an admin account and won't have access to the web Dashboard (unless you organised the order, or were sent an invite).

Your management of your profile is limited to the App, and on whether or not your Dashboard allows for editing access.

Administrators: If you organised the order, or received/accepted an admin invite - then you will be an administrator. You have access to the entire Dashboard, and are expected to assist in the management of this.

A similar user role, albeit at a limited level are Group Editors who function similarly to administrators but only with regard to their specific Group.

Individual Purchases

If you purchased your card independent of your team, you can consider it an individual purchase. Your profile will also be hosted on the Dashboard, but this also typically means you will both be an administrator and a cardholder, so you have access to both the App and the Dashboard.

As the account admin and cardholder, you have sole control to personalise your profile.

Pro Tips for All Users

For Cardholders:

If your organisation provided your card or digital profile, here’s what you need to know:

  • If your Card is a Tapt Black or Tapt Custom, it should already be linked to your profile. Simply tap your card or scan the QR code to access it.

  • If your Card is a Tapt Lite, do the quick test above to confirm if it's activated. If not, please have your administrator activate it on your team's Dashboard.

  • You can only edit your profile via the Tapt App if your organisation's settings allows for it.

  • Otherwise, to make updates, please contact your organisation’s administrator.

We also recommend that you download the Tapt app as a companion as it allows you to:

  • Share your profile using the App's built in QR Code.

  • Add it to your digital wallet.

  • Track two-way contact exchanges.

Want to join an organisation? If you purchased your card separately, but your team has a Dashboard, please reach out to our support team with your organisation’s details, and we’ll guide you through the process.

For Administrators:

  • You have access to the Tapt Dashboard via desktop.

  • Use the Tapt dashboard to:

    • Manage employee profiles and branding.

    • Order new or replacement cards.

    • Enable or disable profile editing to ensure consistency.

  • If you purchased Tapt Lites for your team, please make sure to activate all cards on the same Dashboard (as shown in the third point of the Activation Guide) before distribution.
