Deleting a profile from your Tapt Card involves permanently removing the profile's information and breaking the link between the card and the profile. This action renders the card unusable and removes all profile details associated with it from the organisation. You may want to do this in cases when a team member exits the business, or have lost the card and you wish to have a fresh start with a new one.

Before proceeding with profile deletion, please carefully consider the implications and ensure that you have the necessary permissions. If you wish to re-use your Tapt Card, and instead update the profile that it is connected to, please see our Clear Profile: Reusing your Tapt Card for a Different Profile Knowledge Base article.

Important Considerations Before Deleting a Profile:

  • Irreversible Action: Deleting a profile is irreversible. Once a profile is deleted, it cannot be restored, and the card will no longer be usable.

  • Card Replacement: Deleting a profile will break the link between the card and the profile. To continue using the card, a new Tapt Custom Card with a new profile will need to be purchased.

  • Organisational Impact: Deleting a profile will remove all profile details from the organisation's records. Make sure that this aligns with your organisation's policies and requirements.

Steps to Delete a Profile:

  1. Access Tapt Dashboard: Log in to your Tapt Dashboard using your credentials.

  2. Navigate to Profiles: Click on the "Profiles" tab in the left-hand navigation menu.

  3. Select Profile: Locate and select the profile that you want to delete.

  4. Delete Profile: Click on the "Delete Profile" button. A confirmation prompt will appear.

  5. Confirm Deletion: Read the confirmation prompt carefully. Confirm that you want to delete the profile by clicking the "Delete" button.

  6. Card Replacement: If the card was linked to the deleted profile, consider purchasing a new Tapt Custom Card with a new profile to replace it.

  7. Notify Relevant Parties: Inform any relevant team members or stakeholders about the profile deletion and its implications.

Additional Notes:

  • Deleting a profile ensures that the card's digital identity is reset and ready for a new profile. However, this process requires obtaining a new Tapt Custom Card to link to a profile again.

  • Consider communicating the profile deletion within your organisation to ensure a smooth transition and minimise any disruptions.

By following these steps and considering the potential impact, you can effectively manage your Tapt Card's digital identity by deleting profiles when necessary, and taking the appropriate steps to replace cards and profiles as needed.
