Your Tapt Card is a powerful networking tool, but what happens when a cardholder leaves your team?

You have two options: you can repurpose the card for a new user or permanently remove the profile and render the card unusable. Here’s what you need to know.


Clearing vs. Deleting: What’s the Difference?

  • Clearing a Profile archives the old profile, and generates a new profile linked to the existing card. This allows you to reuse your physical Tapt Card for a new team member. The card remains functional, and you can update it's digital identity.

  • Deleting a Profile permanently removes it from your organisation’s Dashboard, breaking the link between the card and the profile. This action is irreversible, and the card will no longer be usable.

Clearing a profile allows you to assign the Tapt Card to a new person without losing its functionality.

Tips to Keep in Mind:

  • Retrieve the card once the profile holder leaves your team. This will minimise the risk of having someone else use the card to share the new cardholder's details.

  • Update the profile right away if you have a new team member in need of a card. Alternatively, keep the profile blank in the meantime for use by a future hire.

  • By clearing unused profiles and reassigning them to new cardholders in the future, you'll only have to pay for a Replacement rather than a brand new card.

Steps to Clear a Profile:

  1. Log in to your Tapt Dashboard with admin credentials.

  2. Go to "All Profiles" in the left-hand menu.

  3. Select the profile currently linked to the card.

  4. Click "Edit Profile" (pencil icon) and choose 'Clear Profile.'

  5. A new, blank profile will appear at the top of your list.

  6. Edit the new profile with updated details.

  7. Save changes to finalise the update.

  8. Order a replacement card by navigating to Orders > Replacement Card.


Saying Goodbye

Deleting a profile is a permanent action that removes all associated details and disables the card until reassigned to a new profile.

Tips to Keep in Mind:

  • Delete profiles for cards you were not able to retrieve when a team member leaves to protect yourself and avoid the risk of being misrepresented

  • This process is not reversable, except via request with the Tapt Support team although this will take some time to complete.

  • Though the profile is removed, the Tapt Card can be reassigned to an existing profile through the Products tab.

Steps to Delete a Profile:

  1. Log in to your Tapt Dashboard.

  2. Go to "Profiles" in the left-hand menu.

  3. Select the profile you want to delete.

  4. Click "Delete Profile" and read the confirmation prompt.

  5. Confirm deletion by clicking "Delete."

  6. Notify relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.

Understanding the difference between clearing and deleting a profile helps you make the right decision for your Tapt Card. If you’re reassigning a card, clearing is the way to go. If the card is no longer needed, deleting the profile is the best choice.
