How Tapt profiles, products, the app and dashboard fit together

Understand how a Tapt profile connects to physical products, the Tapt App and the Tapt Dashboard, and how teams manage access.

Written by George Ampil

The Tapt profile is at the centre of the Tapt experience. A physical product opens the profile, the cardholder accesses it through the Tapt App, and an organisation manages its profiles and products through the Tapt Dashboard.

The Tapt profile is the centre

A Tapt profile is a dynamic digital profile containing a person's or business's contact details, links and other content. Updating the profile changes the digital information people see without changing anything printed on a physical product.

Every cardholder has a Tapt profile and access to the Tapt App. Whether they can edit their profile in the app depends on permissions set by an administrator.

How the other parts connect

  • Physical product: A Tapt card, stand or other physical product uses near-field communication (NFC) and a QR code to open a connected Tapt profile.

  • Tapt App: The cardholder uses the app to access their profile and, when permitted, update it.

  • Tapt Dashboard: An organisation uses the dashboard to manage its profiles, physical products and access from one location.

  • Administrator: An administrator manages profiles, product assignments and other people's access to the Tapt Dashboard.

  • Group manager: A group manager has access to an assigned subset of profiles so they can help keep those profiles up to date.

Cards and other physical products connect to a profile. They are also managed through the Tapt Dashboard.

What happens after your first order

Your first order will typically result in:

  • a physical Tapt product being created;

  • a Tapt profile being created for the cardholder; and

  • an email inviting you to access the Tapt Dashboard and manage the product and profile.

Manage profiles and products

Edit a profile

You can edit a profile through the Tapt Dashboard. A cardholder can also make changes in the Tapt App if an administrator has allowed profile editing.

Profile changes update the digital information shown to visitors. They do not change details printed on a physical product.

Reassign a product

In the Products tab of the Tapt Dashboard, an administrator can reassign a product from one person to another. The product will then open the newly assigned profile.

Details printed on the physical product do not change when it is reassigned. A generic physical design can be more suitable for products that may move between people.

Clear or delete a profile

Use Clear or Delete from the Edit Profile screen when a profile is no longer needed or needs to be reset. These actions affect profile data, history and product availability in different ways, so confirm the intended outcome before continuing.

Manage access

An administrator can grant another person access to the Tapt Dashboard or invite a group manager. A group manager can manage the assigned subset of profiles available to them.
