Create and manage templates

Set up reusable profile, contact-exchange, email-signature and wallet designs for your organisation.

Written by Elon Datt

Templates let you reuse branding and sharing settings across profiles. Use the organisation's default template for its standard design, or assign another template to a group.

Create a template

  1. Sign in to the Tapt Dashboard and open Templates.

  2. Select Add Template.

  3. Enter a Template name.

  4. Choose Start from scratch for a clean profile design, or Existing template to copy a profile design.

  5. Select the existing template when required.

  6. Select Create template.

  7. Review the editor settings and select Save changes after making your changes.

The creation dialog describes copying a profile design. Check the email-signature and wallet settings too rather than assuming every setting has been copied.

Configure the template

Open the template's Edit control and review its three tabs:

  • Profile Design: Set the cover image and profile colours. The Contact exchange form settings are also in this tab. Full name is mandatory; choose the other fields you need and upload a consent statement when appropriate.

  • Email Signature: Configure branding, displayed profile fields, the QR code and Save Contact button. Review the signature preview.

  • Digital Wallet: Configure branding and review both Apple and Google previews. Text colour (Apple only) applies to the Apple format.

Use the image dimensions and upload limits shown in the editor. Select Save changes when the design is ready.

For detailed instructions, use the email-signature guide or wallet-branding guide.

Manage existing templates

Open the 3-dot More actions menu on the relevant template card. Available actions include:

  • Change name to rename the template.

  • Make Default Template to set the organisation's default.

  • Duplicate to make another template from it.

  • Assign to apply it to a group.

  • Delete to remove it.

Review the profiles and groups using a template before changing its default status or assignment. Follow the confirmation shown by the Dashboard.

Before deleting a template, check its assignments and decide which design the affected profiles should use. If the result is unclear, contact Tapt Support before deleting it.

Understand which profile design applies

A custom appearance set on an individual profile takes precedence over the group or organisation appearance. A group design applies to its profiles when an individual custom appearance is not used. The organisation-wide design applies when no group or custom appearance overrides it.

See Manage profile page appearance and Manage groups for the individual and group procedures.

Check the result

Open a profile that should use the template and confirm its appearance. Test the contact-exchange form, then check the signature and wallet previews where those tools are used.

After changing a signature or wallet design, follow the relevant distribution guide and test the employee's result. Saving a template does not by itself confirm that a previously installed signature or wallet pass has updated.
