Most tap failures come from the receiving phone's near-field communication (NFC) settings or the position of its NFC reader. Work through these checks before treating the card as faulty.
Symptoms
No notification appears after tapping the card.
The phone does not vibrate or otherwise respond.
The card works on one phone but not another.
The QR code works, but NFC does not.
Check the phone and tapping position
Unlock the receiving phone.
If it is an Android phone, open its settings and confirm that NFC is turned on.
Remove a thick or metal phone case, card wallet or magnetic accessory.
Hold the card against the NFC reading area:
On an iPhone, hold the card near the top of the phone.
On an Android phone, try the centre and upper area on the back.
Hold the card still for 3–5 seconds.
Move the card away before trying again.
Do not repeatedly move the card across the phone. The phone needs a brief, steady contact near its NFC reader.
Identify whether the phone or card is causing the issue
Scan the card's QR code. If the intended profile opens, the profile and destination are available.
Tap the card on another unlocked, NFC-enabled phone.
Compare the result:
If the card works on the second phone, review the first phone's NFC settings and reader position.
If the card does not work on either phone, test the NFC chip as described below.
Test the NFC chip
Install NFC Tools from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Open the app and select Read.
Hold the card against the phone's NFC reading area.
Record what happens:
If NFC Tools reads the card, capture a screenshot of Record 1.
If the app does not read the card, record a short video showing the test.
Confirm the fix
Tap the card again without NFC Tools open. A notification should appear. Open it and confirm that the intended Tapt profile loads.
Contact Tapt Support
If the card fails on more than one compatible phone, email Tapt Support. Include:
the cardholder's name or linked profile;
the phone models tested;
whether the QR code works;
the Record 1 screenshot or test video; and
a photo of any visible damage.
