Fix a stand that is blank or only works by QR

Check the phone, NFC chip and linked destination when a Tapt Stand does not respond or opens a blank page.

Written by Elon Datt

Test NFC and the QR code separately. This shows whether the issue is with the receiving phone, the stand's NFC chip or the linked Tapt or Google Review destination.

Symptoms

  • The QR code works, but tapping the stand does nothing.

  • A blank page opens after a tap or scan.

  • NFC and QR open different destinations.

  • The stand opens an activation page after it has already been set up.

If the stand only works by QR

  1. Unlock the receiving phone.

  2. If it is an Android phone, confirm that NFC is turned on.

  3. Remove thick, metal or magnetic cases and accessories.

  4. Hold the top of an iPhone or the back of an Android phone near the stand's NFC area.

  5. Keep the phone still for 3–5 seconds.

  6. Test the stand with another NFC-enabled phone.

If the stand responds on the second phone, the first phone's settings or NFC reader position caused the issue.

If a blank page opens

  1. Confirm that the phone has an internet connection.

  2. Copy the URL that opened and try it in another browser.

  3. Scan the QR code and compare its destination with the NFC destination.

  4. For a Tapt Stand, check that the linked profile is active and contains the expected information.

  5. For a Google Review Stand, confirm that the destination is the correct Google business and location.

If all sharing methods open the same blank or unavailable page, the linked destination needs to be corrected.

If the activation page reappears

Do not repeat activation until you confirm that you are using the intended organisation, profile or Google review link. Record the activation code and take a screenshot of the page.

Confirm the fix

Test with two phones:

  1. Tap the stand and open the notification.

  2. Scan the QR code.

  3. Confirm that both methods open the same intended destination.

Contact Tapt Support

If NFC fails on more than one compatible phone, or the destination remains blank, email Tapt Support. Include:

  • the stand type and order email;

  • the activation code, if shown;

  • the URLs opened by NFC and QR;

  • the phone models and browsers tested; and

  • a photo or short video showing the issue.
